2019 Lakeland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Nominating Committee Report


The 2019 Board of Directors Nominating Committee, in accordance with Articles VIII and XII of the Chamber Bylaws, was charged with developing a slate of twelve (12) individuals to serve a three (3) year term on the Board of Directors.

Accordingly, we are pleased to present the following slate to the membership for election, effective January 1, 2019:

Matt Clark (Broadway Real Estate Services)

Dr. Angela Falconetti (Polk State College)

Holland Henderson (Allen & Company of Florida)

Michelle Ledford (MADE)

Will Link (Reed Mawhinney & Link, PLLC)

Tim Mitchell (Parker Street Ministries)

Cory Neupauer (Lakeland Automall – Ford & Hyundai)

Dr. Chris Owen (Southeastern University)

Per the Bylaws, the membership has the opportunity to place additional names in nomination by presenting a petition signed by no less than thirty (30) members. Such petition must be filed at the Chamber office no later than September 15, 2018.

If nominations are received from the membership, a ballot bearing names of all nominees will be issued to the membership for vote no later than September 25.  Members will have no less than five days in which to vote.  The number of nominees with the highest number of votes shall be declared elected.

If no additional nominations are received from the membership, the slate proposed by the Nominating Committee will be considered elected by acclamation.

We would like to thank the following members who served on the Nominating Committee: Chair-elect Michelle Ledford, Immediate Past Chair Janice Tedder Jones, Past Chair Mike McGee, and Board members Tony Camarillo, Chuck McDanal, and Ashley Troutman.


Aerospace Center for Excellence Announces Board of Directors

Lakeland, FL – The Aerospace Center for Excellence, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is pleased to formally announce its current Board of Directors.

The Aerospace Center for Excellence, or ACE, addresses the growing need for aviation and aerospace professionals as well as preserving the history of aviation for future generations. ACE’s largest fundraising event is the annual SUN ‘n FUN International Fly-In and Expo. ACE resides on 25 of the 200 acres of the SUN ‘n FUN Expo Campus and is comprised of the Central Florida Aerospace Academy (CFAA), Aerospace Discovery, a Florida Air Museum and numerous other education-based venues.

aeroRick Garcia, CEO of Gulf Coast Avionics, has been elected Chairman of the Board of ACE. Integrally involved with the formation of ACE and the development of its youth programs, Garcia is honored to continue to lead the organization and its philanthropic mission stating “Having had the experience of attending an avionics high school, I am familiar with the challenges our students face to be best prepared for a robust aerospace-related career. Through the various programs, scholarships, and corporate partnerships that ACE offers to the youth of Polk County, Florida and surrounding areas, we enable them to not only reap the rewards of their efforts but to be productive citizens as well.”

Joining Rick Garcia is Bob Beaty as Vice Chairman; Chuck Ahearn as Treasurer; and Jeff Kincart as Secretary. Mike Zidziunas was also elected to the Board.

The SUN ‘n FUN Fly-In Board of Directors fully endorse the Aerospace Center for Excellence’s announcement. “I look forward to working with a dedicated group of individuals that are passionate about making educational opportunities available to our youth. The synergy between our organization and SUN ‘n FUN is strong. Each board can focus on the mission of their organization enabling us to be more successful together” said Garcia.
