I know, Florida & Golf just go together. So it is great news to hear that one of our local courses is named to Golf Digest’s Top 50 clubs with the best players. Apparently Grasslands landed at #16 in Florida. That’s a great honor for one of Lakeland’s own. Congratulations Grasslands. For more information here is the press release.
Update: Apparently I copied a previous months release for Business & Breakfast. I do apologies for any inconvenience, but there is a $5 charge for members and $15 for non-members.
The Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce and Lakeland Habitat for Humanity present the October Business and Breakfast on Thursday, October 9 from 7:30 am to 9:00 am at 1317 George Jenkins Blvd. Chairman of the Lakeland Economic Development Council (LEDC), Bill Mutz, will be giving an update from the LEDC.
Business and Breakfast is an opportunity for Chamber members and area businesses to network with new business contacts, suppliers and customers. A different host site sponsors the event each month. There is no cost to members but reservations are required.
For reservations, click here and/or for more information call the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce at 863/688-8551, ext. 232 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org by 5:00 PM the day prior to the event.
The Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce’s Chairman’s Circle Fall Business Luncheon played host to a special awards ceremony today. The Hay Group was on hand to recognize Publix Super Markets, Inc. on being named one of Fortune Magazine’s “Most Admired Companies in America”.
Publix CEO Ed Crenshaw was there to accept the award, along with President Todd Jones, Vice President of Human Resources John Hrabusa and Public Affairs Vice President Clayton Hollis.
The HayGroup is the global management consultancy that has worked for ten years with Fortune Magazine to produce the annual World’s Most Admired List.
The keynote speaker for the luncheon was Florida’s Attorney General Bill McCollum, introduced by Clayton Hollis of Publix. McCollum spoke on what the Attorney General of the State of Florida does. From sitting on the Florida Cabinet to being Florida’s “Top Cop”, McCollum serves on the board of directors of several state entities. Check out an overview on his web site.
Led this year by the Chamber’s Past Chair Paul Noris (Bank of Central Florida), the Chairman’s Circle is a special group of senior level executives who participate in strategic marketing and membership events to enhance their own business and the overall Lakeland business community. Through the leadership and support of the Chairman’s Circle, the Lakeland Chamber has the resources to better assist its members.
The Chamber would like to extend congratulations to Publix Super Markets and all of its associates who are being honored with this well-deserved award. Thanks for all you do to make Lakeland a great place to live, work…and buy groceries!
