LAKELAND, Fla. – The Junior League of Greater Lakeland is hosting its first ever luminary event, Light Up Lakeland, Sunday, December 9 at 6:00 p.m. The community is invited to line the curbs in front and around their home with beautiful luminaries.
The League is selling luminary kits as follows: one kit for $20, or two kits for $30. Each kit includes 15 bags, candles, sand and assembly instructions on how and when to put your luminaries out. Kits can be purchased online at JLGL.org/estore. Kits will be delivered one week prior to December 9. Orders are due November 16, 2018.
The sale of luminaries benefits the Junior League of Greater Lakeland community projects Reading is Fundamental, Ready to Read, World of Reading and a variety of women’s-focused leadership and wellness initiatives.
“It is an honor to introduce Lakeland’s first ever luminary night, Light Up Lakeland for Literacy, as we ‘shine a light’ on the need for greater programming to support early childhood literacy. The League has partnered with The Learning Resource Center to develop a curriculum that will be shared with caregivers of children birth through age 5 in an effort to cultivate an early love of learning and reading. The program is scheduled to roll out at the end of this year.” says Callie Miller, Junior League of Greater Lakeland President. “Your partnership in bringing visibility to early literacy development will not only provide a beautiful sight for your neighbors, but will also unite the community around this very important cause.”
The Junior League of Greater Lakeland would like to thank our event partner The Lunz Group Architects, as well as our community partners Southern Homes, Publix Super Markets Charities, MidState Industrial Maintenance and 97.5 WPCV and Max 98.3.
