Red White & Kaboom, Independence Day Celebration at Lake Mirror

LAKELAND, FL (May 30, 2018) – T.Mims Corp. Red, White & Kaboom Independence Celebration will take place at Lake Mirror along the Frances Langford Promenade on Tuesday, July 3rd from 6:00 p.m. – 9:15 p.m. with the band Clemons Road entertaining the crowd before a dazzling fireworks display launches at 9:00 p.m.

We are asking that everyone who is attending to please bring at least one non-perishable food item.  Volunteers will be collecting canned food items for Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE).  Those attending that do not bring a canned food item are asked to donate $2 to help support the VISTE foodbank.  A convenient text to give service is in place so visitors and others can easily donate by texting FEEDLAKELAND to 50155. VISTE is a community based non-profit organization serving Lakeland, Bartow, Mulberry and Ft. Meade.  Established in 1983, the primary goal is to enable elderly persons to continue living independently and safely in their own homes.

Red, White & Kaboom festivities will start with a live concert featuring the energetic Clemons Road Band that will certainly command the crowd blending country music with an island feel.  The band pulls their influences from Sublime to Alan Jackson, Dave Matthews to Jimmy Buffet, or Lynyrd Skynyrd to the Zac Brown Band. They keep heads bobbing and toes tapping with their own blend of beach country. Clemons Road features an extremely talented and charismatic front man, Grammy award winning music producer Cliff brown on lead vocals and guitar. Back by popular demand is the watermelon eating contest that will take place around 7 p.m. and there is even a round this year for the adults.

Tom Mims, President of T. Mims Corporation said, “We are very excited to sponsor Red, White & Kaboom again this year.  It is an excellent opportunity for our community to come together in celebration of our great country.”  He added, “We ask all those attending to bring a canned food item that will help those in need. All non-perishable items benefit Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE) and new for this year is our text to give option. We want everyone to have fun be we also want to help raise awareness for VISTE and use this opportunity to have the community’s largest canned food drive.”

During Red, White & Kaboom there will be a variety of food trucks around Lake Mirror so bring a blanket, bring your appetite and enjoy the festivities in celebrating our great nation.  The event will conclude with a dramatic display of fireworks over the lake.   Admission to Red, White & Kaboom is a canned food item or a donation to VISTE. Those attending can bring their own cooler but no glass bottles please.  Also, no pop-up tents are large beach umbrellas are allowed.
