Lakeland Regional Medical Center celebrated the grand opening of new administrative offices in downtown Lakeland on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Gow Fields, leaders and members of the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce, LRMC Board Members, LRMC Foundation Board members, leadership and staff. The offices are located in the SunTrust Building, 210 S. Florida Avenue.
“We made this move to provide the maximum space possible for patient care on the hospital campus. We are excited to expand our presence in the downtown Lakeland business community and enjoy the outstanding shops and restaurants in this area,” said Elaine Thompson, PhD, FACHE, President and CEO of Lakeland Regional Health Systems. “This new office space directly reflects our promises to treasure, nurture and inspire each and every one of us to do our very best.”
The office space was locally designed and built by Furr & Wegman Architects, P.A. and Rodda Construction, Inc. The contemporary design features bright workspaces, open downtown views and conference rooms named after local lakes. LRMC’s Our Promise is Your Health has been put into action with treadmills designed to allow staff to exercise while working on laptop computers.
126 employees are now working in the new offices located on the fourth and fifth floors of the building. More employees will come to the downtown location early next year. Departments now housed at the SunTrust location include Compliance, Audit, Information Technology, Strategy and Growth, and Communications and External Affairs.
