First Friday on May 4 Recognizes Lakeland’s Public Works

The City of Lakeland’s Public Works Department will be celebrating the American Public Works Association national Public Works Week (NPWW) from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012, in conjunction with Downtown Lakeland’s First Friday event. During First Friday shops and restaurants will stay open and a festive atmosphere is created with live music and entertainment taking place along the street.  There will even be a classic car show as part of the event.

The NPWW celebration will be in Munn Park featuring displays from each of the City’s Public Works Divisions.  Some of the feature displays include: heavy duty equipment, Lakes & Stormwater awareness campaigns, pedestrian & bicycle safety, information regarding automated garbage collection, recycling and much more! The City of Lakeland’s Department of Public Works has also incorporated children’s activities, give-a-ways and fun for the whole family into their displays!

Everyone is invited to the Downtown Lakeland First Friday and the celebration of National Public Works Week. Parking is free beginning at 5:00 p.m. the evening of the event in the Main Street Parking Garage. Additional free parking is also available in the Bay Street Parking Lot, the Oak Street Park & Ride Lot and the lot located at 400 E. Main St.
