Bok Tower Gardens to Host Inaugural Carillon Classic 5K Run/Walk for Local PR Professional Group

Avid runners and those just wishing to get healthy have been waiting for the opportunity to participate in a 5k event at beautiful Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales. On Saturday, May 26, they will get their chance to do just that at the inaugural Carillon Classic 5k Run/Walk. With rolling hills and Bok Tower as a backdrop, runners and walkers will navigate through the Gardens while listening to the carillon music play. This event will be hosted by the Dick Pope/Polk County Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association and proceeds will benefit its educational and professional initiatives, as well as the George W. Harris, Jr. Runaway and Youth Crisis Shelter.

“We are delighted to partner with Bok Tower Gardens for such a worthwhile endeavor,” said Danny Kushmer, community affairs manager at the Southwest Florida Water Management District and president of the DP/PC FPRA chapter.  ”The Carillon Classic takes place on Memorial Day weekend, when families may be looking for something special to do together, and I cannot think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning. After the event, all participants and spectators are invited to enjoy the gardens free-of-charge.”

In addition to enjoying a scenic route that winds through the gardens, participants will receive a dri-fit t-shirt and enjoy post-race refreshments. The top three winners from standard age divisions will receive awards.  If registered by May 11, the cost for adults is $25 and for students (grades 1-12), it is $15.  After May 11, there is an additional $5 charge. On the day of the Carillon Classic 5k Run/Walk, registration opens at 6:30 a.m. and the race begins at 7:30 a.m.
