The College and Career Committee was created in an effort to preserve the positions of College and Career Specialists in Polk County High Schools. Following the severe budget cuts at the beginning of this year, the Academic Boosters Club of George Jenkins High School became concerned when it was announced that all College and Career positions would be eliminated. Realizing that this would have a detrimental effect on the student population the Academic Booster Club decided to join forces with high schools across Polk County in an effort to save this program.

Polk County College and Career specialists work tirelessly to guide our students in their choices beyond high school. We have come to realize what an important role they have to play in the form of professional guidance to our public high schools students. We hope that you too will choose to join us in supporting this program that that is so vital to the future of our students.

The College and Career specialists in our high schools have the unique ability to show these students how to pursue career goals, and ultimately make a positive contribution to our society.

CCC Belief

The academic achievement and success of our students is the responsibility of many people. We believe the College and Career Programs in our public high schools are a necessary element in the formula for student success and continued economic recovery. They provide the students with the guidance and direction needed in selecting a college and career path. This guidance is key to a student’s future as well as to our current economic recovery. A highly skilled workforce means lower unemployment, increased tax revenue and strong economic competitiveness.

We invite you to invest in the professional guidance that our College and Career Programs provide in our public high schools, which is a necessary element in the formula for student success and continued economic recovery. The necessary funds are an average of $60,000 per school per year.
