On Saturday, September 18, Polk Museum of Art will once again host Family Day. Admission to this annual event is free, and the theme this year is “Going Global.” The hours for the event are 11:00am – 3:00pm.

In addition to the free activities and entertainment, the Museum will also be giving away bags of art supplies to the first 500 school age children to enter the building. Supplies will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last.

Family Day will include performances by Didgeridoo Down Under, magician Luis Campaneria, Tampa Taiko Japanese drumming, and the Kuumba Dancers & Drummers. Visitors can also find balloon bending, face painting, a community sculpture project, a global stick game, portrait sketches, a bake sale, and tables about countries from all over the world.

Art activities will include African masks, origami lanterns, Japanese kimono dolls and carp kites, Moroccan good luck hands, Australian didgeridoos, and Chinese good luck door hangers.

Family Day is sponsored by an anonymous donor, BCI Engineers & Scientists, Inc., MIDFLORIDA Credit Union, and Mosaic. Additional support is provided by The Ledger.

The event is appropriate for children of all ages, and everyone is invited to attend. For more information, please call 863-688-5423 or visit www.PolkMuseumofArt.org.
