City of Lakeland Budget Outreach Meetings

The City will host a public Budget Outreach Meeting on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Coleman Bush Building located at 1104 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.   The meeting will feature a presentation highlighting the upcoming fiscal year 2011 budget and it will allow citizens to ask questions regarding project funding, services and City initiatives.

The event will start at 6 p.m. with a presentation on the FY2011 budget from City Manager Doug Thomas and Finance Director Greg Finch. The budget presentation will include areas of concern and budget assumptions based on tax levels, service fees and other revenues collected.

Viewers can also watch the meeting on television by tuning into the Lakeland Government Network (LGN) on Bright House Networks channel 615 or 107 on the digital tier and Verizon FiOS channel 43. The event will be available in its entirety through the City of Lakeland’s website as a video on demand.

The City will host another public Budget Outreach Meeting on August 24th at City Hall.  This meeting will be open to the public and will also allow citizens to participate remotely by asking questions through a web portal.  Participants for the August 24th meeting will be able to join the interactive dialogue by connecting to www.lakelandgov.net where they will be able to watch the proceedings and submit questions or comments via a “chat” window.
